Fungilab – CAPILLARY Cannon-Fenske (Opaque & Routine)

Cannon-Fenske viscometers are glass capillary instruments used to measure the viscosity of Newtonian liquids. The Opaque type is ideal for dark liquids, while the Routine type is for transparent liquids. Both types provide precise viscosity measurement with traceable calibration.

Description

The Fungilab Cannon-Fenske Viscometers are high-precision glass instruments designed for measuring the kinematic viscosity of Newtonian liquids. The Opaque series (reverse-flow type) is specifically intended for dark or highly colored liquids that cannot be measured with standard transparent viscometers, making them ideal for opaque oils and other dark fluids. The Routine series is used for transparent liquids and provides quick, accurate viscosity measurements. Both series comply with ASTM D-445/D-446, ASTM D2515, ISO 3104/3105, and UNE 400313, with precision values of ±0.3% for opaque liquids and ±0.2% for routine transparent liquids. Measurements are standardized at 40°C and 100°C, with sample volumes of approximately 12 ml for opaque and 7 ml for routine viscometers.

These viscometers cover a broad range of viscosities, from as low as 0.4 cSt to as high as 100,000 cSt, depending on the model. Each unit is made from borosilicate glass and supplied with a capillary tube and calibration certificate, ensuring traceability and compliance with international metrological standards (e.g., UKAS). Fungilab also offers customized viscometers with specific constants, additional temperature ranges, or pre/post-measurement data for specialized applications, providing flexibility for both research and industrial quality control environments.

CANNON-FENSKE OPAQUE

ASTM D-445-446, ASTM D2515, ISO 3104-3105 and UNE 400313 Cannon-Fenske Opaque Viscometers (reverse flow type) are used for dark Newto- nian liquids; especially suitable for liquids so dark in colour that cannot be seen in a Cannon-Fenske routine viscometer. Also used to study shearing stress and shearing rate. Sample volume: aprox. 12 ml. Precision: ±0.3%. Value indicated at 40ºC and 100ºC in both bulbs.

ASTM D-445-446, ASTM D2515, ISO 3104-3105 and UNE 400313 Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometers quickly and easily measure the viscosities of transparent Newtonian liquids. Sample volume: aprox. 7 ml. Precision: ±0.2%. With constant value indication at +40 ºC and +100ºC.
